My Story
Many years ago my own chiropractor discovered I had Bertelotti’s Syndrome, which subsequently led me to chiropractic, and enabled me to be a different kind of chiropractor. This syndrome means having an extra vertebrae and other anomalies diagnosed by X-Ray along with excessive wear and tear of the spine.
Later as a chiropractor myself, I had a back problem affecting my leg and collapsed face down on somebody’s doorstep. Reluctantly I called 999 for help, which never arrived... the full extent of the damage had dawned on me. I had foot drop and constant foot and leg pain and numbness, and other neurological problems due to a massive lumbar disc hernia, and should of had urgent surgery at the time.
However, that was not to be, and my road to recovery has been partially with some help from other chiropractic colleagues, but almost one of self healing, discovery and rehabilitation. Further, I developed an acute faculty called “visual motor rehearsal”(Note)1:
When watching someone perform an exercise I would experience simultaneous muscle activity and subsequent joint positioning which would either cause me leg pain, or not, depending on a persons movement pattern.
This whole experience has been a gift, that has enabled me to live what I teach about health and fitness, and pass on valuable insights on self healing through chiropractic and rehabilitation to my patients.

Endorsement
Put very simply Leom is a healer, he has a unique understanding of the human body.
His innovative techniques, attention to detail and ability to listen make him a very unique asset and a vital support mechanism to anyone who wants to be able to stay fit and healthy for their chosen activity.
Andrew Gorey More Patient Feedback.......
Understanding the importance of pelvic levelling, the alignment of the spine in various planes and related musculature enables correct diagnosis. As a result of this understanding Leom sees patients who typically suffer from, headache, shoulder pain, migraine, “slipped discs”, sciatica, scoliosis, whiplash, repetitive strain injuries (RSI), ganglions, abdominal pain, chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS), temporomandibular joint pain (TMJ), or those who wish to optimise their sport, dance, or back fitness and performance.
The adjusting (manipulation) method favoured in this clinic is Gonstead. Renowned for specificity, and respect for the natural curvature of the spine, this is effective in restoring normal joint motion, relieving muscle spasm and pain. In addition, myofascial techniques are employed to release chronic areas of tension or adhesion, and strengthen weak muscles to support joints and optimising the nervous system.
For our pregnant patients we use SOT (Sacral Occipital Technique) and Cranial chiropractic, along with the Gonstead chiropractic system, which has the advantage of being able to adjust the spine throughout pregnancy..
Back pain is the most common reason why people see a chiropractor.
However, there are many underlying warning signs that can indicate an unhealthy spine.
Leom Woodal is a BCA chiropractor.

FOOTNOTES
1 As described in the film The Secret
A hypersensitive version of Denis Waitley’s Visual Motor Rehearsal Olympic training program:
'Using this program, Olympic athletes ran their event –but only in their mind. They visualised how they looked and felt when they were actually participating in their event. The athletes were then hooked up to a sophisticated biofeedback machine, and its results told the real story about the value of visualisation. The same muscles fired in the same sequence as when they were actually running on the track!
This was evidence for Dr Waitley that the mind is unable to tell the difference between a mental rehearsal and actually carrying out some physical activity. Dr. Waitley says, “If you’ve been there in the mind you’ll go there in the body.'
